In spite the odds, health care is very important. It's one consolation for life's hard work especially to the lowly workers.

I'm another Canadian who is puzzled as to why someone wouldn't want Universal Healthcare? More so, after seeing what passes for health insurance here in the U.S.? For the amount of money that is poured into healthcare here, it should cover everyone, and frankly every health related need should be covered as well. I don't understand why anyone would think the form of rationing that exists here is the best healthcare in the world. How is forcing people into bankruptcy a good thing? What sort of twisted mind thinks it's great to force sick people into holding car washes and bake sales to pay for their healthcare?
It so doesn't have to be this way, and the real tragedy is if there was a Canadian type system, nothing gets taken away from anyone.
Thank you for letting me rant.

It is unfortunate that so many people are willing to pay so much for health care and deny access to those who can't afford it simply to keep it out of the hands of the government who they seem to see as some sort of evil. How can the government that is accountable to the voter be nearly as dangerous as companies that simply have to keep their shareholders happy?
