As one who marched with Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Et al, in the 60's,one who lived in The Haight "counterculture", as one who realized early on that offending the ears of those who most need to hear your message is futile, as one who ran for (and was elected to) political office-and witnessed, first-hand, the greed, hypocrisy, money-purchased votes, and poison that pervades our political system- I found it easy to become a cynic. More importantly, I found it mandatory to remain engaged, informed, and passionate about politics, policy, the "commons", a secular government, and common sense. Mahalo for your input in this regard. I have enjoyed your “about” page very much. While perplexing in your obviously judgmental inclinations, they are nonetheless hardly arguable logically.I am ancient in years with a wit to match, therefore when presented with sharpness and cleverness in a point of view or an oblique approach to an issue, with which I may be unfamiliar I tend to ruminate on such rather than present an immediate  answer or reply. Though not as nimble or athletic of mind as some (as Shoq, who constantly grooms and polishes an immense ego) my plodding, careful treading a pathway to logical conclusions affords me usually satisfying (to me, at least) results. Such results may even convey completely original meaning, as has happened in the past, and may even open a few jaded eyes.  Believe me this has happened on occasion.
