LETTER: Please Vote YES on H.R. 4872: Stop Discrimination Against the Sick.

Dear Representative:

I'm writing to tell you why I'm such a strong supporter of health reform. With 51 million uninsured and the number growing daily, we can't afford to wait any longer. Too many Americans live in dire fear of getting sick. Businesses suffer, people suffer, and people die. American competitiveness around the world is at risk.

Holding the future of our health care hostage for raw political gain is just wrong. Failing to right this wrong for fear of jeopardizing your own political future is cowardly. Please vote for health care reform and stop the immoral discrimination against the sick.

Vote YES on H.R. 4872: The Reconciliation Act of 2010.

Thank you.

how many people here have left the US? im guessing not many after reading the comments. We are the joke of the world when it comes to health care. They can't figure out why we dont have universal health care. There are no lines or death panels in thier countries.

    [Here's the email I sent]

    Dear Representatives:

    We need health care for:

    * The millions of people who don't have it.
    * The people with pre-existing conditions and no alternatives.
    * The women who pay more for coverage than men.
    * The middle class who will go bankrupt under the current system.

It's likely you and your main funders don't fit any of the above description. However, you were elected to the government of the United States of America - and that includes all of those listed above. We deserve better access to health care.

Vote YES on H.R. 4872: The Reconciliation Act of 2010.

    Thank you.

Thank you for setting this up! I tweaked the letter a bit. I prefer sending a win-win message if possible. Use it if you like.

I'm writing to tell you why I'm such a strong supporter of health reform. With 51 million uninsured and the number growing daily, we can't afford to wait any longer.

Too many Americans live in dire fear of getting sick. More bankruptcies have been caused by health care costs than by bad mortgages. What kind of message are we sending about the chance for prosperity in America if people can work hard all their lives only to lose their life’s savings because they lost the sickness lottery?

Businesses suffer. Health care costs are an expanding black hole, and American competitiveness around the world is at risk. The last decade of business growth was swallowed up by health care costs. Less reinvestment. Flat wages. Unchecked and unpaid costs for the uninsured are added to the premiums that businesses pay.

By passing H.R. 4872 We have an opportunity to show that we value both people and profits. Holding the future of our health care hostage for raw political gain is just wrong. Failing to right this wrong for fear of jeopardizing your own political future is cowardly, and the fear is misdirected. We should really be afraid of what health insurers will do if Congress can’t come together to regulate them.

Please vote for health care reform. Vote YES on H.R. 4872: The Reconciliation Act of 2010.
  • Pass it now! get on board or be on the wrong side of history..

You have no idea what your are supporting. This bill will destroy our country as it has been plainly documented through the U.S. Post office going broke; medicare is in dire straits, social security cannot sustain itself for much longer! These are Government programs that fail. They fail because they don't run them like a business, they are run carelessly by politicians who have no clue as to how to balance a budget.
You people will see the destruction of America the Beautiful. if that is what you want - go for it. I want our great, unique, FREE country to stay free allowing us our unalienable rights. FREEDOM RULES. Government intrusion stifles freedom.
NOBODY is denied healthcare in this country, many hospitals absorb those costs.
Think this over again, stop, calm down and rethink

The U.S. post offfice has been among the more efficiently run entities. Try sending a letter to Oahu for under .50 cents with the private carriers. To say the goverment has killed the USPO is folly; have you considered the Internet's role in its struggles?
  • DAbernathy
Stop being a mouthpiece for the republican right or nobody is going to take you seriously.
  • dear tea party minion, go back to your puppet master.

Vote Yes and later in life when you're on your death bed you will be able to die peacefully knowing that you had done the right thing.
  • cody
Sure thing Patrick. You'll die peacefully & much younger because the gov't will help you end your life when you get ill and become too expensive.
  • tea party
Vote Yes...and you are DONE in Nov!! We won't forget!!
  • patisok
It will be fine. Until you have no job and no health care. It happened to me and it could happen to you. So really stop and think about this. After what I saw this week in Ohio and in the Nations Capital with teabaggers in full force spitting, name calling and holding signs that said in effect they would kill whoever voted for the bill. Well, this was the tatics used in Germany when toughies went out and threatened folks and beat them up. Put homosexuals in prison. If this is what you want for America then our vision is really really different. Do you put folks out on ice floors who get sick enough to die. Do we just take all those over 70 out to a firing squad. What is your answer. Can be flip but life has a way of catching up to us. Perhaps your number may be up tomorrow and you be looing for help that your family or church or friends can not provide. Good luck to you. Dont get sick and above all dont lose your job are you will become one of us and perhaps some you know will throw dollars at you and call you names. God help if this hatred goes un checked and un challenged.

"spitting, name calling and holding signs that said in effect they would kill whoever voted for the bill." This is not true. The spitting and name calling has been repeatedly disproved by video. The signs had statements that those who voted for this bill would be "Slaughtered" in November. A play on Louise Slaughter's name and the "Slaughter solution" proposed to subvert normal legislative process. The sign makers were using this play on words to say that those supporting the bill would not be re-elected. It's a bit over-the-top for you to claim death threats, don't you think? And odd for you to bring up putting "homosexuals in prison" shortly after writing the homosexual epithet "teabaggers". The other reasons you state ("firing squad", "tactics used in Germany"), are threats that, in the past, were imposed by the government and are precisely why many oppose the government taking over something as critical as a person's health care.

do you even know what this can do for the underemployed, part timers, college graduates looking for work, people with pre-existing conditions? I am appalled by the selfishness of the haves who call themselves "good christians"
  • Pass the bill if you want to be re-elected
