Narrative Authority: Can Institutional Respect Be Crowd-Sourced?

Who Says: Narrative Authority In a Fragmented World

Jay Rosen tweeted this seminal post by Megan Garber, articulating what the web and digital media are doing to authority memes and journalism's role in this bizarre new world.

Since the need to manage the tangled and competing taxonomic hierarchies of such a Narrative Big Brother has been my professional fascination for years, I couldn't help but notice.

I think it's required reading for every journalist, citizen, media theorist, media guru, social media consultant, politician, educator, and student. Ok, ok….make that everyone that can fucking read.

Transparency needs to be about fostering conversation rather than ending it.

I read what you wrote.. "taxonomic hierarchies" & "authority meems" & laughed out loud.

Do you even know what you were trying to say? Really? it made no sense.. except that
I do get it that for some reason you feel Garber's tweet was both interesting and important..

I disagree with her comment.. transparency is about transparency.. pure and simple.. and in what is supposed to be a free and open society it is required. Past that.. a conversation starter or ? I don't thinkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk so!
  • Modern authority (and Government) is a complex hierarchy of ideas, positions, physical and conceptual assets, and points of view. Each can be seen as a set of objects which can be described with a taxonomic scheme in one or more contexts.

I am sorry the word meme offends you enough that you would misspell it ;)

Of course, you can argue with me, but we'll need some authority to act as an intermediary. Whom do YOU propose?

lol! I'm not offended by the word "meme" .. it was merely a simple typo silly.

I do think this short blog shows you are the tweetking of malapropisms and much ado about absolutely nothings.

Given the mis-use of terms, the only thing that made sense in that blog was that you thought Garber's tweet was spot on.

As to an intermediary in an argument.. why? LOL is it a competition? Do you need an audience?
